We have been admiring Red Gerbera Daisies for the last few years at our local garden nursery. This Spring, we decided to buy a hanging basket of 4 daisy plants! https://youtu.be/8zVYuu7QDhc We took 2 plants out of the hanging basket and planted them in separate containers, and we kept the original hanging basket on our deck since it gets filtered morning sun. https://youtu.be/AjYhZmrG5vA When the flowers begin to fade, it's time to prune! Pruning is good for flowering plants because it redirects the plant's energy to produce new blooms. https://youtu.be/OumkvQ6bHiw As we mentioned earlier, we placed 2 of the plants in containers hanging from a stair railing in our backyard. My gardening partner decided to turn on the sprinkler to water the plants which was a big mistake! Gerbera daisies are susceptible to fungus and they don't like their leaves watered, especially from overhead sprinklers. https://youtu.be/i1EwkleJ4dI We prefer natural solutions to powdery mildew fungus, so we tried sprinkling cinnamon on the leaves to arrest the fungus. https://youtu.be/kPrPcsliNac After 3 weeks of sprinkling cinnamon on the leaves, we finally began seeing a difference. The fungus cleared up on the existing leaves, but the new growth was still covered with fungus ... We found another natural solution ...
